RULES
2008 358 MOD RULE'S
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Helmets are required and must meet Snell 2000 or newer standards. Helmet must accompany vehicle at time of inspection and must not be cracked.
Fire race suits of a flame-retardant nature must be worn by all competitors. Two piece are allowed. Fire resistant gloves and shoes are recommended.
Fire extinguishers are required and must be charged and securely mounted. This must be done at time of inspection or your car will not race!
Aluminum racing seats are required.
Competition type 5 point seatbelts are required. Belts must be at least three inches wide and must not be older than 3 years.
Loose objects and or ballast is not permitted in driver’s compartment or outside the body area.
All other AMRA safety rules apply.
Weight
Cars using open motors must weigh 2500lbs
Cars using the GMPP 602 or PBM Iron Outlaw I must weigh 2400 lbs
Engine
PBM Iron Outlaw I or GMPP 602 (See weight rules)
Open Motors must use STOCK GM 350 Block (.045 over max or 358 cu in.)
Max Compression Ratio TBA
No Dart or World Product or other aftermarket blocks
Steel Block and Heads required
No Roller Rockers –stamped steel with roller tip ok
No Roller Cams
Aluminum Intakes Ok
If you use an open motor you must run a 1 inch restrictor plate
No external or rear mount fuel or oil pumps.
Ford and Dodge engine requirements TBA.
ASPIRATION
1. A single two (2) or four (4) barrel carburetor is allowed. A spacer is allowed but may only be 1 and ¼” from top to bottom. Double pumper is allowed.
2. Engine must be normally aspirated: no type of fuel injection.
3. Racing fuel cells are required and must be mounted by at least two (2) steel straps, two (2) inches wide by 1/8” inch think around cell. Fuel cells must be enclosed in a steel container, mounted behind rear axle only and must be protected by tubing. 32 gallon maximum capacity.
4. Gasoline or Alcohol ONLY.
5. NO NITROUS OR POWER ADDER OF ANY KIND!
6. 750 CFM maximum carb.
TRANSMISSION
1. Bert or Brinns ok
2. Transmissions must have a working front and rear gear
3. Cars must be able to move forward, stop in a neutral position, and then backup without assistance.
4. Powerglides ok
5. Standard or Automatic OEM transmissions Allowed.
6. If using a clutch you must use a steel “scatter proof” bellhousing
DRIVE SHAFTS
1. Drive shafts must be steel and must be painted white!
Drive shaft loop required and must be no be more than six (6) inches back from the front of the drive shaft. It must be steel.
Battery and Kill Switch
1. Batteries must be securely mounted and may not be inside of the driver’s compartment.
2. Stock type battery ignition only, NO magnetos.
Kill switch is required. Switch must be located within easy reach of the driver and
track staff.
Wheels and Tires
1. Hoosier Tires Only AMRA Medium or Hard Allowed
2. Hoosier A40 or H40 Allowed as well.
3. 8 Inch Steel Wheels Only
4. Beadlocks are optional but may only be ran on the right side of the car.
5. Once inch lug nuts are required and larger studs may be installed.
6. NO WIDE 5 Wheels.
Rear Ends
1. Any OEM passenger car type, or truck types rear end may be used. Floater rear ends are permitted.
2. No aluminum allowed except lowering blocks, axle caps, and drive plates.
3. No quick-change devices allowed.
4. Birdcages Must Be Steel
5. Locking and Posi-track rear ends allowed.
6. No traction control devices of any kind allowed.
Steering
1. OEM steering box only and must remain within original bolt pattern for type of frame used.
2. No rack and pinion steering.
3. No center steering. In cockpit steering maybe modified to drivers taste but must remain on left side of car.
4. Front mount (block or head) OEM styled V-Belt driven power steering pumps ONLY.
Suspension
1. 4 Bar, Z-Link, Swing Arm, 3 Bar, 2 Bar, Leaf Spring and Mono Leaf Suspension Ok
2. Birdcages Must Be Steel (No Bearing Birdcages)
3. Clamp Brackets Ok
4. Tubular A Arms Ok (Upper Only)
5. No Tubular Lower Control Arms On Front
6. Racing Shocks and Springs Ok
7. Shocks are welded bearing, non-take a part shocks ONLY!
8. No double adjustable shocks
9. No externally valved or canister reservoir shocks
BODY
1. All AMRA body rules except NO SPOILERS
